Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MA), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500)

Life can be challenging for all of us. If you are feeling overwhelmed by daily stresses, trying to cope with loss or relationship issues, experiencing anxiety or depression, and you would like to cultivate greater wellbeing, an experienced, counselor-therapist can help you to navigate this journey.

I offer telehealth counseling and therapy to individual adults and couples and work with families that include adolescent members. I am also an E-RYT 500 multi-style yoga teacher and educator and a RPYT (prenatal/postpartum) instructor and Lamaze trained childbirth educator. I also hold a Gottman method certification for Level 1 couples’ therapy and a certificate in Positive Psychology (my research in this area has been published by the American Psychological Association in their APA Handbooks in Psychology Series). My keen interest in psychiatric nutrition also informs my holistic (whole-person) approach to helping clients flourish. I love helping my clients to achieve sustainable positive change and well-being!

As you become acquainted with the professional services that I provide, please know that I am happy to answer any questions that might arise. Please feel free to contact me directly at info@ciw.care or through my confidential voicemail 908.391.0726 to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. I would be happy to speak with you about working together.

The cloak of the past, I fold neatly each morn
In day's dawning light, I turn Memory's face
That awake I might rise, in each season reborn
The road ahead leads me to Hope's dwelling place

Therapeutic Services

Integrative, Responsive Support

My Approach to Therapy

My work with clients is based on an integrative counseling approach that is informed by different evidence-based treatment modalities which honor clients as collaborative partners in therapy.

While I am non-judgmental, I do encourage clients to actively pursue the positive changes that can enrich their lives with greater meaning, purpose, and joy.

Techniques

As an integrative counselor/therapist, I utilize aspects of CBT/Talk Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Existential Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as the Gottman method for couples, etc.

I treat clients from a holistic (whole-person) perspective, since the core tenets of good mental health work in unison to support sustainable positive change and well-being.

Your First Session

The first session (also known as an “intake”) is an opportunity for client and counselor to come to know one another and to determine “goodness of fit” (compatibility and alignment).

During this first session, I am actively listening to my client’s story to understand not only what brings them to therapy, but to also identify the personal strengths that can help clients reach their therapeutic goals. My aim from the start is to build rapport such that clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.

I strive to make all counseling sessions time well spent, so that clients know that they have gained both personal insight and useful "tools" which they can utilize to craft richer lives. Research strongly suggests that the greatest change factor in the therapeutic process comes from the rapport that clients establish with their therapist. This factor is widely considered to be more critical than the type of therapeutic modality employed or a counselor's therapeutic orientation. For this reason, and for the enjoyment that I also experience in coming to know my clients, I am always actively working to build a strong therapeutic relationship.

My Philosophy of Care

In this increasingly complex and fast-paced world, we are all challenged in our attempts to achieve and sustain well-being.

The goal of wellness should not be to “survive” life but rather to “thrive” within a rich experience of it. My work with individuals, couples, and families underscores my commitment to helping clients nurture a growth mindset that leads to lasting positive change which supports flourishing.

My philosophic approach to working with clients is integrative (utilizing what works best from a variety of treatment modalities). It is informed by evidence-based therapeutic traditions that include holistic (whole-person), person-centered humanistic, strengths-based positive psychology, existential, and narrative therapy approaches. These treatment modalities honor the client as a “partner” in therapy and as the “author” of their life story. My core goal as a counselor/therapist is to help clients craft value, meaning, purpose, and joy in their lives, since these are the pillars that support wellness.

As human beings, we cannot separate our emotional, psychological, or physical health when considering well-being–they are all connected, and integrative wellness addresses them in unison. In my practice, I work with clients to identify and strengthen their positive attributes in order to develop shared strategies for achieving long-term, sustainable flourishing for individuals, couples, and families.

If you are ready to make positive changes in your life, I hope that you will contact me.
